A few of Steven notary public duties include:
- Witnessing signatures: Witnessing the signing of legal documents and verifying the identity of the signers. Also, I look for signs of fraud or coercion during the signing process.
- Verifying identity: Verifies the identity of the person signing the document. Ask questions to ensure the signer understands the document and is willing to sign it. This is called administering an oath or affirmation.
- Certifying copies: Witnesses the signing of legal documents and verifies the identity of the signatories. This process is designed to protect the public from fraud and ensure the validity of the legal documents. I am required to examine the documents for any signs of fraud or coercion and to ensure that the signatories are acting voluntarily. - Maintaining journals: As a notary public I work with legal documents such as contracts, affidavits, and loan documents.
